Artist Anjana Guleria hails from Himachal - a land of scenic beauty and rich culture. She has post-graduated in Art History from National Museum Institute (NMI), National Museum, New Delhi. She works at her studio Lalit Kala Academy Garhi, (New Delhi). During last few years she has participated in many groups and solo art shows. In 2022, she has received “HIMACHAL RATTAN” award for contribution in art and social work at Chandigarh from Periodical Press of India. Presently, her photograph “Dance of Fagli” is exhibited in photography exhibition by Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav & Lalit Kala Akademi at Amrit Udyaan, Raashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.
Artist Anjana is a visual person naturally drawn to the aesthetic, surrounding myself with beauty and color. While people banter about big and small things, my eye wanders toward a luminous leaf, sunlight in the garden; or blushing bougainvillea shot in blinding pink; or cascading amaltas blooms, a haze of exuberant yellow.
Artist Anjana shared about her latest landscape series, which she has created after returning from her hometown in Himachal in the range of Himalayas during the pandemic. She started working on landscapes that are surrounded by her hometown’s lush natural sceneries such as the Dhauladhar Mountain Range - one of the ranges of the Middle Himalayas. She discussed how this new body of works has allowed her to realize a long-held desire of exploring nature and capturing the unique landscapes of her hometown - a subject matter that connected her to a long tradition of artists.
